THE DISTRIBUTION METHODOLOGY

WE STRESS A LOT ON SORTING OF MATERIAL - AS IN NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES OVER 40% MATERIAL WHICH COMES FROM PEOPLE IS WASTAGE i.e.THESE ARE TORN OR USELESS.
  • With our systems in place, we sort out every single cloth, make separate packs for male, female etc. and do a need based distribution. In disasters the situation is really bad ,as many people use this oppurutnity to clear their houses.
  • The exercise might take some extra time but saves us from wastage of resources which might occur when we send these to people without maintaining the dignity of the beneficiaries,
  • The distribution will take place through the trusted network of GOONJ.. distribution partners for VASTRADAAN. GOONJ.. has been working with many NGO's in Tamilnadu for the last few years and maintains a very good feedback system.
  • In normal circumstances these NGO's even give us a list of beneficiaries and their acknowledgements. During disasters also we'll have enough visual proofs of proper distribution ,although we'll not stress on individual acknowledgement.
  • We have demands from many NGO's /agencies in the affected areas. Our target is remote villages and as a policy we do not hand over the material to any big NGO, government agency as we try to tie up with small grass root level groups there to reach people.
  • We have already tied up with agencies for villages of Vishakhapatnam, Machchalipatnam, Kanchipuram and many other areas. We are also building up a network of ASHOKA FELLOWS, working in these areas and trying to reach the remote parts through them.

One of our volunteers has already done a detailed survey of Kanyakumari..
