SOME SMALL EFFORTS..

 DURING DISASTERS -
  • Distribution of material-GOONJ.. started with a very basic activity i.e. distribution of material among the needy people.

  • Chamoli Earth Quake-The team came into major action to provide relief to the victims.

  • Orissa’s devastating Cyclone-A few months later we were able to collect and send more than 4 trucks load material to the victims of cyclone.
  • And hra Pradesh Floods- Arranged and sent a lot of material.
  • Gujarat Earthquake- Major relief and rehabilitation activities. Also with the support of Wipro ePeripherals, GOONJ.. has taken up a village- Harudi, 30 km. from Bhuj, for comprehensive development for the next five years.
  • Gujarat Riots- initiated a relief and rehabilitation campaign RAHAT, very well supported by people, worked in various riot affected areas.
  • Assam, Bihar & West Bengal floods - initiated a relief and awareness campaign for this ‘not even talked annual disaster’. We support thousands of people every year . As this is first such effort in this area the demand from partner groups and beneficiaries is increasing every year.
  • Supporting a number of NGOs, working with various groups on a regular basis throughout the country.

VASTRADAAN -

  • Collection of material - By motivating people and organising collection Camps in corporates, RWAs, schools & colleges etc., apart from having 35 permanent collection points in Delhi and other major cities.
  • Sorting of material - The collected stuff from Camps/ centres come to store for segregation on the basis of age, sex, etc. From other cities, material goes directly.
  • Distribution of material - through partner NGOs and individuals in the remote areas all over the country apart from regular support/ distribution in Delhi.
  • Feedback - regular monitoring, interaction & meeting with distribution partners & the end beneficiaries.

    SCHOOL to SCHOOL -

  • A simple concept of turning wastage from urban schools into a resource for hundreds of Schools in rural India. An effort to motivate a number of urban schools and their students to donate the material they discard once their session is over. Our focus is on helping the management in sensitizing the students and their parents to the needs of their counterparts in the remote villages. It’ll help channelise their waste material like old books, uniforms, shoes, school bags etc. Over 35,000 children will be benefited through this program in this year itself.

  • DISASTER AWARENESS EXHIBITION -

  • GOONJ.. is successfully running a roaming exhibition- Natural disaster: Man Made suffering , in various schools and public places. This exhibition contains original photographs from various disasters and works as a forum for discussion on Do’s and Dont’s at the time of disasters.

  • RE-CYCLING A STEP AHEAD -

  • Pads of Re-used paper - a new way of recycling used paper.
  • News paper bags - as an alternative of polythene.
  • Cloth bags - GOONJ.. collects a good quantity of Clothes. Lot of them are not in wearable condition, we convert it into carry bags (The old traditional Jholas) and then try to promote it for a nominal cost of 10-12 rupees.
  • Options of Carry Bags - Apart from bags from old cloth and paper bags GOONJ.. is working on various other options of carry bags like Jute bags, bags from leftover cuttings of cloth etc. Because we firmly believe that just talking about ban on polythene is not enough, more important is to give people an alternative..
  • Greeting Cards - GOONJ.. has taken out a series of Greeting Cards, based on tribal art and printed on Hand made paper.
  • THE STRENGTH -
  • The biggest strength of this movement is our self-motivated volunteers who spend their time in approaching various corporates, RWAs, schools, organising collection camps, doing door to door campaigning, spreading the word about GOONJ.. This is the reason that without any major funding from any Funding organisation or Corporate, the concept of VASTRA-DAAN is growing fast across the country and people are joining this movement regularly.
